IQP ChecksWhat is an IQP?An IQP (Independent qualified person) is a person who is accepted by a Territorial Authority as being appropriately qualified to undertake the inspection and maintenance of the feature concerned. This person must not have a financial interest in the building. Nelson Alarms are registered with both the Nelson City and Tasman District Councils as IQP's. What are my obligations as a building owner? The Building Act 2004, specifies that all buildings other than single residential buildings require a compliance schedule and annual warrant of fitness if they contain systems specified in the Act, including:
Nelson Alarms is an officially recognised IQP, (IQP no. 276) authorised to carry out tests on these systems. What’s the Process? You are required to have an IQP or suitably qualified person check the features / specified systems listed on your buildings compliance schedule each month. At the end of the 12 month period, an IQP carries out an annual survey, which if passed means they will sign a form 12A for each of the specified systems listed on the compliance schedule. This documents that the feature /system has been inspected and maintained for the previous 12 months. The form 12A’s are attached to the compliance schedule which is submitted to the council who then issues the building’s warrant of fitness. If you wish to discuss further, or would like Nelson Alarms to carry out regular system checks on your premises, please contact us. |
