Video Surveillance - Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between your systems and one I can put in myself?
Having a Video Surveillance / CCTV system is only as good as the quality of the recorded images and the ease at which you can access them. The quality of the recorder and camera equipment and just as importantly the installation of the equipment will determine the quality and effectiveness of the results and whether the images are able to used for identification. With the ever-increasing rate of technology, there are a lot of do-it-yourself camera systems in the market. Many of these "off-the-shelf" systems have cheap conversion components and basic software giving poor results, and no backup service to rectify any issues. I have an old time lapse recorder, what are the benefits to changing to digital? Digital Video Recorders have many advantages over the Time Lapse VCRs that were in common use. There are significant ongoing savings to be enjoyed in servicing, maintenance and operational costs. The overall cost of ownership is lower. Most important however is the increased image quality, ease of use, security and labour savings.
